pressurepoint: I wouldn't toot any horns for socialized medicine. Do you have any idea how that would work in the U.S.??? When's the last time you visited a DMV or Social Security office? When's the last time you called the IRS? The government is good at doing one thing in this country... and that's screwing things up and taking forever to do it. If I had symptoms of a stroke, the last place I'd want to go to is a government-ran ER. Forget about it.... do you know how long it would take to process a cat-scan or MRI? Free-market capitalism keeps the industry performing quickly, rapidly and efficiently. Although many problems exist with insurance, pharmaceuticals, etc etc, it would be MUCH worse if the government stuck its nose in healthcare. And PS: Do you have any idea of how much the "socialist" governments take from their citizens in tax - well over 1/2 their earnings every year. Government's just a huge-ass business in England, Canada and many other "socialized" nations.

I'm self-employed at pay tax - I don't receive any kickbacks from the government. The only "rebate" I received this year was a $100 off because I reported a reported a loss well into the thousands. The way I see it is simple: income tax in the United States is illegal - Americans were simply duped into voting it into law to help finance WWI and having never been told it would exist for for eternity. As far as social security, you're only supposed to receive as much as you put in - but people such as yourself like to see bums get checks regardless of the fact that they didn't earn them. What's your logic???
