- wow, i guess I'm a communist now because i don't care about Michael Phelps. people put to much stock in the man rather than the country he came from. He is an athlete that represents us. When the Olympics are over, we should be proud of what our country has accomplished, not fawning over, and making a celebrity of a single man. Michael Phelps does not represent himself, he represents you and me, the same as all the other great athletes that have won gold for America. Others have accomplished great things in the Olympics but most people wont remember them.
