Gen Z is not okay. They don’t have job opportunities. They aren’t dating or spending time with their friends, and according to a UCLA poll, they really don’t like seeing people do the deed on screen.
According to Variety, 48.8% of Gen Z viewers said there’s "too much sex and sexual content in TV and movies," and a whopping 60.9% say they’d prefer romantic storylines focus more on “friendship” than hooking up.
A new study from UCLA polled Gen Z viewers (10 to 24 year olds) and found that 48.4% said there is "too much sex and sexual content in TV and movies."
60.9% said they want romance depicted as "more about the friendship between the couple than sex.”https://t.co/wTJD8nT2l9— Variety (@Variety) October 22, 2025
This isn’t new. Anyone online has seen this exact reaction from Gen Z when popular movies and shows dare to include a steamy scene. Maybe it’s because they aren’t getting any themselves, or maybe it’s because they’re still living with their parents?
Either way, not good!
