A Popular Hiking Trail Has Been Closed for a Month Because One Moose Refuses to Move

He’s very stubborn.

Hikers at the Goodman Mountain trail in Tupper Lake, New York are bummed that their favorite trail is still closed. The reason is that there’s a big, gosh-darn moose blocking the trail who won’t get out of the way.

Amazingly, this is only a slight exaggeration. In short, moose are violent jerks, so if a moose is spotted, park rangers advise caution. And if the moose is seen behaving strangely, as this moose appears to be doing, they may close down an area entirely. That’s what happened in Tupper Lake, where hikers have had to wait a month for the moose to clear out so they can begin hiking again.

The moose is still there, though; and so, the wait continues. In the meantime, you hikers will have to find another place to get your wilderness fix.
