Albanian PM Announces Their AI-Generated Minister Is Pregnant

You can’t… that’s not… huh?

Earlier this year, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama stunned the world (and the rest of his government) by announcing that there would be a new minister in charge of appropriations. The new minister, named Diella, was also not actually a person, but an AI.

While this was pitched as a way to eliminate corruption, critics were quick to point out that “circumventing government officials by leaving the government in the hands of an AI that *you* programmed” is not only hilariously opaque, but also, you know, kinda corrupt.

Still, Rama says he’s pushing forward with more AI in government. In a recent announcement, the AI declared that it was “pregnant” with 83 AI “children,” which will soon assume roles in the government.

I don’t think that’s how pregnancy or democracy works, but go off, I guess.
