Another Person from ‘Tiger King’ Has Been Sentenced to Prison

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. Just kidding, this guy stinks!

Remember when everyone was freaking out about Tiger King? Well, since then, things have mostly gotten worse for everyone involved. Carole Baskin officially closed her Big Cat Rescue back in January, and as far as Joe Exotic is concerned, his efforts to get President Trump to pardon him have been, to put it lightly, unsuccessful.

But there was more to that story than just these two characters. There was also Doc Antle — or, as he calls himself *sigh* Bhagavan Mahamayavi “Doc” Antle. In case you don’t remember him, he was the guy who looked like he was running a cult while giving off one of the most “cover your drink around him” vibes imaginable.

Well, the update on him is that he’s now going to prison for animal trafficking and money laundering. On Tuesday, Antle received a sentence of one year and one day and was fined $55,000. He was also required to surrender three chimpanzees and over $197,000 to the government, per CBS News.

The scheme was pretty insane. Prosecutors claim that Antle laundered money that was tied to a human-smuggling operation in order to purchase chimpanzees, lions, tigers, cheetahs and other exotic species. He had also been buying these animals without the proper paperwork.

So, if you’re wondering what the punishment is for illegally obtaining a bunch of exotic animals and laundering about half a million dollars to do so, the answer is “a year of prison” — and you get to keep your animals.

Fair? You decide!
