2,500 Years Later, Aphrodite Is Still a Babe

Even after all these years (centuries?), not much has changed.

Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, lust, beauty, pleasure, passion and procreation (busy girl), would be proud to know that in 2025, people still think she’s hot. A bust of the goddess went viral on X this week as discourse around women’s stomachs came bubbling back up in the feed.

X, the denizens of which spend like 80 percent of their time thinking about how hot women are, has been arguing over an old 4Chan post of a woman wearing a tight leather skirt that hugs her stomach. The post, while pretty innocuous, was red meat for the incels and femcels who like to joke about being attracted to women with eating disorders.

So in a way, the bust of Aphrodite was a way for normal folk to voice their sexual preferences in a way that’s both historically accurate and true to what real bodies look like. We might think we’re different from the Ancient Greeks, but liking curves has been hot for thousands of years and will be hot for a thousand more.
