Apple TV Suddenly Cancels TV Show After Learning the Whole Thing Was Plagiarized

Thankfully, no one has Apple TV.

If you were excited to watch the new Apple TV show The Hunt, I’ve got bad news. First, you need better interests. Second, the show has been canceled — because the whole thing was seemingly plagiarized. To make matters worse, no one realized it until right before the finished series was about to premiere.

As reported by Apple Insider, accusations are going around that director, creator and screenwriter Cedric Anger plagiarized the whole thing from the novel “Shoot” by author Douglas Fairbairn. The book had previously been translated into Anger’s native French under the name … “The Hunt.” Yeah, not too great at covering your tracks, are ya, Cedric?

No one knows all the specifics, but it appears that Apple didn’t discover that this was the case until just before the show was supposed to be released. Consequently, they’ve hidden all references to the show’s existence, including press documents and trailers. They’ve also (allegedly) told cast and crew that they are not allowed to discuss the show.

Will this show ever come out? It’s currently unclear. Apple may sue Anger for the alleged deceit, or Apple may try to strike a deal with the Fairbairn estate to release the property legitimately. For the time being, though, you’ll just have to watch whatever else is on Apple TV — which I assume is, you know, something.
