According to The Daily Mirror, a recent report by a Department of Defense task force stated that the U.S. government was secretly spreading UFO conspiracy theories as a means to obfuscate the truth behind the development of Cold War-era stealth jet technology.

Wow, you’re telling me this for the first time. I can’t believe it. This doesn’t sound like the government I’ve known my entire life.

The Wall Street Journal went into further detail, claiming an Air Force colonel in the 1980s was tasked specifically with spreading false information about Area 51 and UFO sightings in the Nevada desert.

Now, before you say, “No shit Shirlock,” remember, this report was released by the government. So, maybe they’re lying to us… again?
