Ordering clothing online is always a gamble. Even if you know all of your measurements, there’s always a chance that something about the garment won’t meet your expectations.

When you say that, most people imagine something like, “Oh, the fit looks different than I expected” or “The color is different from the photos.” What they *don’t* expect is that the item will arrive looking exactly like the pictures — only smelling like halibut.

However, that’s exactly what’s happening with this jacket from Asos. While the jacket seems relatively normal looking, the piece is getting horrible reviews because, according to reviewers, the fish smell is “very strong.”

“Smell of fish is overwhelming and deep rooted,” says one review. “Myself and anybody within a mile radius had to hold their breaths.”

“The smell is horrific,” reads another. “The reviews of it smelling like fish is right! I just don’t understand how these are getting sent to customers with this smell!!!!”

That said, some said they were able to defeat the lingering odor.

“It does stink of fish — loved the jacket and fit was determined to make it work. Took a few days of airing infront of an open window but all good now,” shared a further reviewer.

I know you have to “suffer for fashion,” but that doesn’t have to include making your house smell like trout!
