Does Raising Cane’s Have ‘Weird Chicken’ Buckets?
It’s the internet’s newest obsession.

Earlier this week, some users on X began seeing a strange ad claiming that Raising Cane’s has a secret bucket where they discard “substandard” chicken tenders. If you ask nicely, the ad says, you might be able to get a container of them for free.
Why was this an ad on one of the top 20 most popular social media sites in the world? I don’t know; I remember when Nike used to advertise there! Regardless of why it showed up, it did — and now people are wondering if Raising Cane’s really does have a “weird chicken” bucket and if you can get them for free.

In short, the answer appears to be yes, they do have a chicken bucket. However, it’s not just oddly shaped chicken tenders — and you probably don’t want to eat from it.
Basically, Cane’s says that it cooks everything fresh to order. Anything that stops being fresh gets thrown into the bucket, where it will accumulate bacteria as it cools. Eating it will not only be unpleasant, but it could be unsafe — which is why most employees will simply refuse to give it to you.
Instead, they’ll just throw it out at the end of the day. But, if you’re not above a little dumpster diving, there’s free chicken out there for you to take!
