Elmo Says His Racist Tweet Storm Doesn’t Reflect ‘Sesame Street’s Values

Elmo, we forgive you.

If you haven’t seen, Elmo spent the last few days tweeting some pretty racist stuff. He said the n-word, challenged Trump to release the Epstein files while also calling him the n-word and called for the extermination of all Jews.

Today, the humans behind Elmo’s X account have issued a formal apology, posting on X, “On Sunday, Elmo’s X account was briefly hacked by an outside party, in spite of the security measures in place. We strongly condemn the abhorrent anti-Semitic and racist content, and the account has since been secured. These posts in no way reflect the values of Sesame Workshop or Sesame Street, and no one at the organization was involved.”

Obviously, nobody thought Elmo, the puppet we all love and know, was a racist or anti-Semite, but clearly, the jury was out on the people with access to his account, which his statement makes a point to assure, were not.

If you’re looking to point fingers, a nameless hacker is always the best bet and what most people assume to be the case anyways. However, when a hacker takes over a prominent Twitter account, they usually take the opportunity to shill a crypto coin, which, in Elmo’s defense, he didn’t do.

Silver linings, amirite?
