With most of us spending so much of our time (both at work or personal) online, it's not so surprising that the the interest in Esports has skyrocketed in the last few years.

Although it’s still relatively new, the popularity of esports itself has made esports betting an instant hit among punters and bookmakers. Despite its limited fan base in comparison to traditional sports, an infographic made by NJgames shows that $5.5 billion was wagered on major esports titles in 2016 and that number is set to triple by 2020.

Esports simply stands for ‘electronic sports'. It is computer and console gaming online (or offline) by professionals, where people compete individually or as a team to win cash prizes.

Esports has been around since the ‘70s, but over the past decade, Esports tournaments have become events played in front of sell-out crowds with live and online viewers reaching the millions.
