A German nurse has confessed to ending the lives of ten patients and attempting to do the same to 27 others, claiming he acted because of his heavy workload. He’s now been sentenced to life in prison for his crimes.

The man, whose name has not been publicly released, committed the acts while working in Würselen, Germany, between December 2023 and May 2024.

According to the court, he injected his patients, most of them elderly, with lethal doses of painkillers in an effort to reduce his night-shift workload. Prosecutors said the man showed little remorse and even seemed irritated during the trial. They ultimately accused him of playing "master of life and death."

Investigators are now reviewing his other cases to determine if there may be additional victims.
