As Y2K fashion has made a comeback, so too has the music of the era. Modern artists are borrowing heavily from the radio sounds of the late-‘90s/early 2000s, which explains why your 15-year-old niece is randomly into U.K. garage now thanks to PinkPantheress.
Seemingly left out of this conversation, however, is nu-metal — though that might be changing.
According to Google Trends interest in nu metal is now at the highest it has ever been, eclipsing prior peaks in 2004, when Google began tracking, and 2023 (2025) pic.twitter.com/hauSNWajYi

While some may think bans like Limp Bizkit and Korn are relics of a bygone era, it seems that the interest in rap-rock never really left us. In fact, as reported by X user @numetal_moment, Google Trends show that searches for “nu metal” are now more popular than they’ve ever been (at least, since Google started measuring in 2004).
So, if you’ve got an old P.O.D. shirt in your closet you’ve been waiting to wear out in public again, now may be the time!
