Swingers Fear Hurricane Melissa Could Destroy Their Favorite Resort In Jamaica
“Hey, we noticed you from across the bar. Can we shelter in place together?”

Hurricane Melissa is not to be trifled with. If you are in the storm’s path, officials are urging you to seek shelter and stay put until further notice. While most Americans are watching the storm from the comfort of their phones, there are a few American tourists caught in Melissa's wake.
Tony and Christina Malchodi, a couple from Iowa celebrating their 10-year wedding anniversary, spoke to WQAD 8 about the anxiety they feel riding out the storm at a resort in Negril on the western end of Jamaica. While the staff have assured them they’re going to be fine, Christina said she and her husband were losing sleep in anticipation for the hurricane’s arrival.
They are not the only ones worried about the storm’s potential destruction. Members of the swinging community are also concerned that their favorite resort, Hedonism II in Negril, may not survive the hurricane.
The Swing Nation, a podcast hosted by self-proclaimed “swinger activists,” posted a message today on X sending love to all their friends at Hedonism II, writing, “Sending love to our friends at Hedonism and everyone in Jamaica. Stay safe, our hearts are with you.”

On TikTok, an employee of Hedonism II shared a video showing the resort going into lockdown, showing the cabanas and lawnchairs empty in anticipation for Melissa’s landfall.
Only time will tell if Hedonism II makes it through the storm, but if anything happens to it, we will rebuild.
