‘I Want to Eat It’: Some Guy Bought Queen Elizabeth’s 80-Year-Old Wedding Cake
He says he’s going to flambé it in rum to kill off any bacteria, then eat it.

Many couples save a slice of their wedding cake in their freezer. Most of the time, they don’t really know what to do with it — what, are you gonna thaw it and eat it? Save yourself the stomachache and buy another cake!
But if you’re a famous couple, that frozen wedding cake might actually be worth something. Recently, a slice of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s 1947 wedding cake has sold for more than $3k. The buyer is businessman and Royals fan Gerry Layton — and he says he’s going to eat it.
“I will have a third of it cut off and flambéed in rum so that any bacteria will be killed off,” he told The Telegraph. “But if anything happens to me, then at least I will be going out in style on Britannia.”
Passing away by doing something stupid and unnecessary? Yup, sounds British to me!
