It’s a bit hack to say that all of these “smart” products are actually pretty dumb, but it still feels like it needs to be reiterated. Connecting your entire life to the internet usually causes nothing but headaches — especially when AWS goes down and your bed decides to cook you alive.

Still, if you’re a company looking to impress your stupid investors, one of the easiest ways to do that is by adding “smart” functionality. That’s what Kohler recently did — to its toilets.

As noted by TechCrunch, the product is called “Dekota” and costs $599. What do you get for that hefty price tag? Well, you get a camera that takes a picture of your doo-doo and analyzes it. Oh yeah, you also need to pay between $70 and $156 per year for a subscription.

For the time being, the company says that all the camera can analyze is your gut health, hydration and whether or not your insides are falling out.

If you can’t afford this camera, don’t worry — you can always use the tried and true method of “looking at it before you flush.” It’s cheap, and it doesn’t involve having some private company’s camera in your bathroom!
