LeBron James Sends Cease-and-Desist to A.I. Company Making Pregnant Videos of Him
This is the price of fame in a world of A.I.-generated content.

LeBron’s lawyers recently sent a cease-and-desist letter to A.I. company FlickUp, which runs a generative A.I. Discord powered by an A.I. tool called Interlink AI where users can create videos using their favorite NBA players.
According to 404 Media, who spoke to FlickUp founder Jason Stacks, FlickUp acted “within 30 minutes of receiving the cease and desist, and [sic] made the decision to remove all realistic people from Interlink AI's software.” The software allowed users to create videos trained on the likeness of NBA stars, including LeBron James, Steph Curry and James Harden, among others.

These videos often depicted James as being pregnant, and in one instance featured an A.I. Diddy sexually assaulting Curry in prison while an A.I. James watched, per 404 Media, which viewed the videos.
Stacks claimed that generative-A.I. was still in its “wild west” phase and that while copyright and IP issues remain murky, FlickUp is “committed to being on the right side of that change.”

Here’s an idea: Don’t create software that steals the likeness of real people.
