Little League Begs Gamblers Not to Bet On Their Games

Imagine losing your life savings on a 10-year-old.

As any sports fan in America will tell you, it’s easier than ever to gamble on games. While gambling of yore involved visiting a shady dude who would break your kneecaps if you couldn’t pay, now, you can do it from your phone. And if you lose, the only injury you’ll acquire is a blown eardrum from your wife screaming at you about where the money went!

You might think that you can only bet on professional sports. Well, think again, because one of this season’s hottest betting tickets is the Little League World Series.

For those who are unaware, the Little League World Series is a tournament played by kids between the ages of 10 and 12 — and, apparently, it’s become such a popular betting market that it’s outpaced other sports played by, you know, adults.

“The Little League World Series is an exciting tournament that our customers absolutely love to watch and wager on,” Sportsbook Manager Adam Burns told MyNorthwest. “This might come as a surprise, but we’ll take more bets on these Little League games than we will on any professional tennis or soccer matches over the next two weeks.”

What does the Little League think about this? In short, they hate it. They’ve put out a statement condemning it, saying that “we feel strongly that there is no place for betting on Little League games or on any youth sports competition.” Buzzkills!

But at the end of the day, none of this should come as a surprise. There are already massive betting markets for high school football, and over time, it’s not exactly shocking that as people run out of sports to gamble on, they’re going to look in somewhat unorthodox places.

Once you find yourself betting on your kindergartner’s three-legged race, however, it might be time to admit you have a problem.
