While much of the discussion around COVID-19 has fallen to the wayside, that doesn’t mean that its impact is gone — specifically, on your colon.

A study found that people who have had COVID are more likely to have GI complications. Frustratingly, these complications don’t go away after the virus has left your system, with study respondents reporting issues in the months and years following their infection.

What are these issues, you ask? Well, in the study, people who had COVID were at a 60 percent higher risk of constipation, 58 percent for diarrhea and 54 percent for IBS. As if COVID wasn’t crappy enough!

So, what can you do about it? The answer is, it seems, nothing — but maybe pouring a bit of Pepto into your coffee wouldn’t hurt.
