Man Says He’s Making $100k+ Annually by Uploading A.I. Slop to YouTube

We’re so cooked.

The internet is slowly filling up with A.I.-generated content, and pretty much none of it is worth your time. Regardless, algorithms don’t seem to care whether content is made by a human or a computer. So, if you’re an average dude trying to quit your day job, why wouldn’t you just throw a bunch of computer-generated content onto social media and see what sticks?

You might think that doing this wouldn’t lead to success, or that the people who are now prompting “generate a video of a cool dog wearing sunglasses” are mostly wasting their time. According to NPR, not so — us little piggies apparently love watching this A.I. slop, so much so that some slop creators say they’re bringing in up to $9,000 per month, all while not creating any original content whatsoever.

One creator in the Philippines interviewed by NPR says that the amount of money he can make in a month from A.I. slop is more than he would expect to earn with a university degree in his country. I mean, good for him, but I’m not thrilled about it.

Are you now thinking about doing this yourself? No one is stopping you, but the man interviewed said that, in order to find success, you *do* need to keep abreast of the internet’s trends and generate content tailored to it. For example, he says his views went up after adding “Italian brainrot" meme characters to his videos, including, and I’m sorry, but “Ballerina Cappuccina, a dancer with a coffee cup for a head, and Tralalero Tralala, a shark wearing Nike sneakers.”

Yet again, we’re cooked.
