Man Stages His Own Funeral to See Who Cares Enough to Show Up

That’s gonna make the real funeral a bit awkward.

Have you ever wondered what your funeral is going to be like? Who’s going to show up, who’s going to decorate it, what kind of food are they going to serve — these are all questions that one might have, but to which they will never know the answer.

Well, unless they follow the lead of 74-year-old Mohan Lal, a retired Indian Air Force veteran. According to local reports, Lal prepared a whole funeral complete with traditional dress in order to see what people thought about him before he actually kicked the bucket.

It turns out, people actually liked the guy (thank goodness, that would have been awkward). The community came out to mourn him, and only once the procession ended did he reveal that he was, in fact, still alive.

“After death, people carry the bier, but I wanted to witness it myself and know how much affection people give me,” he said before reminding people to check in on the people who matter to them.

I get what he was going for, but can we agree that this is a *little* dramatic?
