Thanks to memes and general Internet backlash, Sonic the Hedgehog is getting a redesign and the movie has been pushed back to February 14, 2020. This will give the animators much more time to perfect his new look and now they won't have to work 24/7 to get it done in time. Earlier today, director Jeff Fowler tweeted out this message:

Ever since the original trailer dropped on April 30 the Internet has been roasting Sonic's design. It's pretty unheard of for a movie to be completely changed due to Internet backlash, but we're glad they listened!

The #SonicMovie was just delayed to Valentine's Day 2020 - which means no crunch for the animators, thank God.
And...in the image Jeff Fowler shared, Sonic has a GLOVE.
Not a hand with white fur.
We did it, guys... :D
I hope when they release the next Sonic trailer with the redesigned Sonic it’s even worse. It’s just Coolio in a blue costume this time or something— Published Author (@MoistCr1TiKaL) May 24, 2019
