Monster Energy is Making ‘Monster Energy for Girls’
It has a thinner can and less aggressive marketing. You know, for the ladies.

If you’re looking for a way to put a little more of a pep in your step, you might consider an energy drink. Well, unless you’re a woman.
That’s what Monster Energy seems to think. Sick of being associated with skaters and teen girls who wore Cookie Monster pajamas to school for some reason, the energy drink giant has announced they’re releasing a drink specifically targeted at women.
Their method for doing so is exactly as trite as you’d think. They’re replacing the black and green can with a slim, purple and pink “female focused” one. The name? It can’t be “Monster” — a woman might get scared of it! No, no. Instead, the drink will be called “FLRT” and have a flower on it.
Presumably hoping to launch the drink to a chorus of “Yas queen slay,” the reaction on the internet has been a resounding “What the heck is wrong with you people?” Although this sort of performative marketing may have worked in 2016, now, people just aren’t buying it, as evidenced by the online response.
“‘female focused’ Its a [expletive] drink bro who gives a [expletive],” wrote one woman on X. “Monster is making a huge mistake in understanding their customer base here I think,” declared another.
Many also noted that plenty of women currently drink Monster and that there’s already basically a Monster for women (it’s the white one, in case you were wondering).
To summarize, dumb marketing is dumb. That said, if it’s tasty, I can’t promise that you won’t see me drinking a Fart. That’s what it’s called, right?
