According to a recent study published in the journal Neurology, young people between the ages of 18 and 39 have reported a five percent jump in cognitive decline. The study, which was conducted from 2013 to 2023, found that 9.7 percent of Americans under 40 are experiencing increased signs of “memory problems, concentration issues or difficulty in executive function.”
The study doesn’t pinpoint the potential causes for this sharp increase in cognitive issues, it does note that a “better awareness and willingness to report problems” could be a factor in the rise; however, the impact on young Americans is so great that this reasoning alone couldn’t account for the results.
It’s worth noting that the study ended in 2023, or a few years before the rise in A.I.-induced psychosis became mainstream. So if I were to guess, I’d say 10 percent is probably low.
