Ohio Is Making a Database of People Who ‘Skip Job Interviews’
Pretty soon the government will know more about you than you do.

The Ohio legislature wants to pass a bill that would require employers to “track people who ‘ghost’ job interviews.” The bill seeks to create an online registry of those who sign up for, but never show up to job interviews. If House Bill 395 passes, the Department of Job and Family Services would be tasked with creating this online database.
I propose an amendment that would track employers who create fake job listings wasting applicants time applying to jobs that don't exist.

The reason Ohio is going to such great lengths to ensure people are attending interviews is twofold. First, Ohio has stricter guidelines than most states when it comes to unemployment benefits and restricts people from receiving unemployment payments if they aren’t “doing enough to get a new job.” Second, just this week alone, some 50,000 Ohioans filed for unemployment benefits, and House Bill 395 is the state’s way of paying out as few of those benefits as possible.
