LinkedIn Co-Founder Reid Hoffman Posted an AI Interview With His 18-Year-Old Self

How is this supposed to help me get a job?

LinkedIn has no shame, so it really shouldn’t be a surprise that one of the minds behind LinkedIn shared a video of himself “interviewing” a younger, AI-generated version of himself.

What a loser!

The conversation (if I can call it that) begins with the 18-year-old version of Reid Hoffman sharing his fears that the “world might not even be around long enough for me to finish college,” citing “nukes on red alert” and a “giant hole in the ozone layer.” To which the present-day Hoffman responds that “leaning into the chaos is part of your job as the next generation.”

The video is meant to “start a conversation” around generational anxiety, specifically, “AI anxiety,” though it does little to accomplish either. Hoffman “tells his younger self” that it’s his job to keep up with the times and to tackle the challenges of his day, though his message is clearly for the young people of today, not his 18-year-old self.

Many of the comments are from unemployed users asking Hoffman, “How much did Stanford tuition cost in 1985?” and wondering, “How will this help get a job?”

The truth is, it won’t, unless your job is posting on LinkedIn, which Hoffman’s clearly is.
