Roblox Purged Millions of Accounts With ‘69’ in Their Handles
And users are not happy about it.

Choosing the right username is a rite of passage. It helps define you, tells your friends what you stand for and, if done well, can be pretty hilarious. Well, according to Roblox gamers on X, Roblox is sick and tired of the 69 handles.
Apparently, Roblox has gone out of its way to remove or change all usernames featuring “69” in their handles, allegedly affecting millions of users.
Gamers first noticed the purge late last week and began sharing screenshots from Roblox informing them that their usernames featuring 69 were “inappropriate.” Roblox has been criticized in the past for its lax user protections, as the game is predominantly for young gamers, and it seems that handles with 69 are now a no-no.
Within the past couple days, Roblox decided to go out of their way and reset almost EVERY SINGLE ACCOUNT containing 69 in the username, regardless of the context. If I could get an estimate, tens of millions of accounts are affected, making this the biggest reset wave in history. pic.twitter.com/DseaC6CRTe

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill announced in August that the state was suing Roblox for “failing to protect children from predators.” Murrill said in a statement that “Due to Roblox’s lack of safety protocols, it endangers the safety of the children of Louisiana.” Murrill further accused Roblox of “prioritizing user growth, revenue and profits over child safety [sic].”

It remains unclear how the purge will make Roblox safer for young gamers.
