Subway Footlongs Are Now $14
Say what you will about Jared Fogel, but when he was around, at least the price of a footlong was only five bucks.

I was shocked to learn today that Subway’s $5 footlong promotion ended in 2014. As someone who hasn’t been to Subway in nearly a decade, I naively assumed the price of Subway sandwiches had stayed relatively the same. Oh boy, was I wrong. Apparently, a Footlong from Subway now costs a whopping $14.
If this isn’t news to you, forgive me, but when I realized this, I was floored. So I crunched some numbers.
“Fourteen Dollar Footlong” doesn’t quite have the same ring to it. pic.twitter.com/aIM8w9DHze

Per Calculator.net’s inflation calculator, the purchasing power of $5 in 2014 is roughly $6.81 today. This means if Subway wanted to reinstall their famous $5 footlong campaign, they could; it would just be the $6.81 footlong campaign.
Not nearly as catchy, but it also means Subway is totally ripping us off.
