After years spent wondering whether Nintendo would bring any of their beloved 3D Mario platformers to the Switch (so they don't have to keep trying to build stupid ports), fans will soon be able to play those classic games on a convenient device.
To celebrate Mario’s 35th anniversary, Nintendo announced today they're releasing a pack of the plumber's greatest hits, called Super Mario 3D All-Stars.
This is a collection of multiple 3D Mario games in one package for the Nintendo Switch. It includes Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy.
Super Mario 3D All-Stars will cost $59.99 and release on September 18th this year. The game will be available both digitally and physically, but only for a limited time until March 31st, 2021.
The package also includes a Super Mario Music Player which will allow you to listen to music from each of the three games even while the Nintendo Switch screen is off.
Other additions include improved resolution for all three games, a new 16:9 aspect ratio for Super Mario Sunshine, and improved Joy-Con controls and rumble for all three titles.
For Super Mario Galaxy, players can wave around the Joy-Cons to mimic how the game was originally played with the Wii controller.
While none of these games are getting major updates or expansions, their re-release could offer the best version of each.
They'll now be fully portable, and for anyone who's been waiting 25 years to hear Mario out "gay Bowser," they can blast that in public for a pleasantly awkward moment.
