Target Sugar Cookies Recalled for Containing Wood Chips
If you recently bought sugar cookies from Target, you might want to save them for your next bonfire instead of chowing down on them.

According to the FDA, Target’s “Favorite Day Bakery Frosted Sugar Cookies” have been recalled at locations in 20 different states because they possibly contain “wood chips.” As I’m sure you know, wood chips aren’t typically one of the ingredients in sugar cookies (IT’S RIGHT THERE IN THE NAME). If you think you did buy them, you should throw them away immediately.
Food-related illnesses were on the rise in 2024, and per a recent report from the Government Accountability Office, the U.S. needs better food-safety measures to ensure public health.

In fairness, though, the FDA didn’t say explicitly that the cookies contained “wood chips,” just that they “might” contain wood chips. So if you want to take the risk, be my guest. At least you won’t need a toothpick afterward.
