Taylor Swift Fans Think She Plagiarized the Awful Songs on Her New Album

Some fans think that these songs aren’t particularly good… because she didn’t write them.

While some Taylor Swift fans have loved the new album, the reaction across the fanbase more generally has been, to put it charitably, mixed. Swift supporters say that the album has several glaring issues, including skin-deep writing and a generally unpolished feel.

Still, Swift shares writing credit only with her two producers across most of the album — which is interesting, because many fans think that the album rips off a variety of popular artists.

For example, internet users say the title track of the album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” sounds a *lot* like “Cool” by the Jonas Brothers. They say that another song, “Actually Romantic,” sounds verrrry similar to Jax’s “Victoria’s Secret,” and that “Wood” is a clear take on “I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5. Of course, there are also accusations that songs were lifted from everyone from Post Malone to The 1975, but we’ll leave those all for another time.

So, what do you think? Does that songwriting credit list need a few more names?
