The Internet Is Taking the Side of the Louvre Robbers
It’s giving Ocean’s 11.

France’s most prestigious museum, the Louvre, was burglarized in broad daylight, and of course the internet is on the side of the robbers. According to authorities, at roughly 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, a team of thieves entered the museum by climbing a ladder into a section that is currently under construction.
The brazen mid-morning heist lasted only seven minutes. Wearing yellow safety vests, the thieves were caught on camera sawing into a jewelry case. They managed to escape with eight priceless artifacts, though one of the items, the crown of Empress Eugénie, was later found discarded and broken on the street outside the museum.
And here are the first images from the Louvre heist — inside the Apollo Gallery, where it all took place.

While the loss of priceless artifacts is a shame, the internet can’t help but laugh. People are comparing the heist to Ocean’s 11, joking that all it takes to break into one of the world’s most famous museums is a ladder and some homies.
Emmanuel Macron vowed that law enforcement would “recover the works and bring the perpetrators to justice.”
The Louvre remains closed during the ongoing investigation, but with every hour that passes, public opinion seems to lean further in favor of the criminals.
