PS5 Price

The PlayStation 5 is getting even more expensive than it already is. Citing inflation and the current economic environment around the world, Sony has announced that it is raising its prices for the PS5 in most major markets.

The PlayStation 5 will see a price bump if you live in Europe, the UK, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Canada. The price in the United States however will remain stagnant for now.

The price bump averages out to about $50 dollars over the various currencies involved, and Sony has not commented on whether or not the change will be permanent. They did say that their top priority will be improving the ongoing supply chain issues.

PS5 Price bump - prices per country

The launch of the PS5 saw its $500 asking price skyrocket for many buyers due to supply shortages and scalpers. Only recently has it become somewhat easier for people to buy a PS5, so the news that its price will rise again is no doubt frustrating for many potential customers around the world.

AI Rapper ‘FN Meka’ Released from Capitol Records after Racial Slurs

Apparently computer-generated musicians were a thing...until they weren't.

Apparently computer-generated musicians were a thing...until they weren't. Capitol Records has cut all ties with an Artificial Intelligence Rapper named 'FN Meka' after backlash over cultural appropriation and fairly blatant racism. Yes, you read all of that correctly. So let's break this down a little bit.

A computer-generated rap artist, which was programmed to use stereotypical slurs (including the 'N' word) in its songs was signed by one of the most notable record labels in the music industry, and subsequently dropped.

Capitol Records had signed the AI rapper to a deal, after the bot had gained over 10 million followers on its TikTok page. After doing some due diligence, Capitol realized that NONE of the bot's human creators were black. Yikes. Cultural appropriation is one thing, but having a slur-shouting computer developed by 2 non-black dudes (Anthony Martini and Brandon Le) is something entirely different.

Capitol Records released a statement regarding the release of FN Meka from their label.

"We offer our deepest apologies to the Black community for our insensitivity in signing this project without asking enough questions about equity and the creative process behind it."

Followers also pointed out that FN Meka's Instagram page is chock-full of posts depicting police violence and brutality. So yeah, I'd say it was a smart move to sever ties.
