The U.S. Accidentally Invaded Mexico Yesterday

Thankfully, they were chill about it.

Yesterday, the U.S. Military did something embarrassing. According to CBS News, they screwed up navigation so badly that they accidentally landed in Mexico — and immediately declared that the Mexican land upon which they landed was actually property of the U.S. Government.

History buffs in the audience will know that this isn’t the first time America has done something like this. However, it may be the first time we did it accidentally.

So what did this “invasion” actually look like? Well, a bunch of U.S. military personnel hopped off their boats, stuck flags in the sand declaring that the area was now “restricted” under orders from the “commander” of the U.S. Department of Defense, and told locals to scram.

Soon, it came to light that the signs were not actually on American land, but Mexican. And so, the Mexican military calmly removed the signs while American troops boated back to their own country with their tails between their legs.

The Pentagon has since said that it will “coordinate with appropriate agencies to avoid confusion in the future.” Avoid confusion, avoid a war — same thing!
