This Year’s Most Popular Halloween Costumes Are ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ and… Sigh... ‘Chicken Jockey’

Might want to nail your candy bowl to your patio.

It’s almost Halloween, which means that soon, kids will be coming door-to-door asking you for candy. Provided you haven’t committed some unspeakable crime, you’ll be obligated to give them some — at which point you’ll realize how old you are when you don’t recognize any of the costumes.

This year is going to be especially tough if you’ve fallen behind on pop culture. According to Google Trends, the top five Halloween costumes are all from the Netflix original film K-Pop Demon Hunters. Number six is… the Chicken Jockey from Minecraft. I’m sorry, too.

If you’re really out of the loop, there’s a strong chance you won’t recognize any of the top 15 costumes. Other notable standouts are Glinda and Elphaba from Wicked, Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon and “Labubu.”

Whatever. I’m just going to stick with tried-and-true classic — “dude who forgot it was Halloween so is trying to convince people a Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses is a costume.”
