During Trump’s first term, a great deal was made about his use of “executive time.” This was unstructured time set aside for “executive work” that largely consisted of him sitting around and watching TV.

This terms seems to include less of that, but that might not actually be a good thing. According to The Washington Post, analysis of a recent meeting showed that Trump spent about 20 minutes simply trying to keep his eyes open. Trump also appeared to have difficulty staying awake during his criminal trial last year, telling reporters that he was not sleeping but instead closing his “beautiful blue eyes” to listen better.

Is it particularly surprising that a 79-year-old man can’t go the whole day without a nap? No. But do we yearn for a country in which multiple Presidents in a row can’t be accurately described as “sleepy”? Yes. Yes we do.
