Broken Pot Foils Attempt to Make World’s Largest Bowl of Rice
What a shame.

Nigerian chef and food influencer Hilda Baci was close to breaking her second world record when the pot she was cooking the largest ever bowl of jollof rice in broke after it was lifted by a crane to be weighed.
The custom pot, which required 300 people and two months to craft, was designed to hold 23,000 litres, or roughly 6,000 gallons, and had 8,800 pounds of rice inside of it when it broke. The dish took nine hours to build and over a year to plan.

Sadly, though, Baci bit off more than she could chew, as the sheer size of the pot proved impossible to weigh. Baci’s team said they’d be submitting photos of the pot to Guinness World Records so that they’d still be recognized for their achievement.
The good news is that no food was spilled, and the massive bowl of rice was served to the thousands of people who came to gawk at the feat.
