You Literally Can’t Play Lorde’s New CD
The aesthetic is cool. If only it worked!

In case you don’t know anyone gay, under the age of 35 or both, the musician Lorde released her long-awaited fourth album this week. The album has received critical acclaim and is already beloved by fans — at least, the fans who are able to play it.
Why can’t many fans play the album? Well, while the songs were released on streaming services as normal, the album’s physical release featured a crystal clear CD — you know, like the ones that came with those massive packs of CD-Rs.
Although the songs really have been encoded onto this clear disc, many fans are reporting that their CD players not only can’t play the disc, but won’t recognize that a disc has been inserted, which, as anyone who’s worked a lot with disc drives can tell you, might lead to the disc being stuck inside.
I think I speak for everyone when I say that the design is cool, but really, what was that?
