Lip Fillers & Dermal Fillers FAQs

How long do lip fillers last?
This can vary depending on the dermal filler used. Dermal fillers can last  from 4-18 months. However, lifestyle factors such as smoking, poor diet  and water intake, will have an effect on the longevity of dermal filler. So, look after yourself and your health, and your lip filler will last  too.

How much are lip fillers?
Lip filler  procedures at Serenity Aesthetics in Leeds cost £150 per 0.5 ml Juvederm Ultra Smile, £250 for 1.0 ml Teosyal Puresense & £275 per 1.0 ml  Teosyal RHA 2/3 (the first resilient hyaluronic acid dedicated to facial dynamism). Other clinics may charge £250-£400 per full ml filler.  Always ensure you are treated by suitably trained, insured &  experienced medical healthcare professionals. You should always have a  consultation beforehand.

Do lip fillers hurt?
Yes it can hurt, the lips are a very sensitive area and so injections can  be uncomfortable. Most industry gold-standard dermal filler products  contain the local anaesthetic lidocaine & having topical anaesthetic prior to any treatment can help to reduce any associated discomfort.  When local anaesthetics wear off your lips may be slightly tender for a  day or two but should not be painful. Here at Serenity Aesthetics in  Leeds we only use dermal fillers containing lidocaine local anaesthetic  in our procedures & provide topical anaesthetic creams/dental blocks if desired.

What are lip fillers?
Lip fillers are generally made from hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance found in humans. When injected into the lips, the hyaluronic  acid attracts water and creates a plumping effect. The border of the lip can also be injected to create more definition and prevent lipstick  bleed.

Is 0.5 ml of lip filler enough?
Having  0.5 ml lip filler is enough to create a subtle effect. This volume is  useful to have if you have never had lip filler before or require a  smaller ‘top-up’ following on from previous treatments. It is also best  practice to add lip-filler in small amounts so that there is time to see the effect. Having 0.5 ml lip filler will generally only last half the  amount of time as a full 1.0 ml.

Are lip fillers safe?
Modern dermal fillers used for lip filling are far safer than previous  products & can be dissolved after injection if necessary. There are  still some risks associated with dermal filler injection including,  bruising, swelling, infection & vascular occlusion. Using only a  suitably trained & qualified medical practitioner or doctor will  reduce the occurrence of side effects and adverse reactions. Your  medical practitioner or doctor should discuss all risks involved before  commencing any dermal filler treatments.

Can you have lip fillers when pregnant?
You are not permitted to have lip dermal filler treatments whilst pregnant  or breastfeeding. You may only restart/have dermal filler treatments six weeks after giving birth as long as you are not breastfeeding. You  should always inform your medical practitioner  or doctor if you think  you may be pregnant or are still breastfeeding.
