ma-ma-ma-my Corona (take 2)

We are seeing unprecedented actions being taken by the government. Something I've noticed during all the reports on sporting event shutdowns, school closings, closing bars, restaurants and all the other measures we are 'electing' to take is we are being introduced to a few new phrases.

- Flattening the curve
- Social distancing
- Self quarantine

Most everything seems harmless except for the last one. Self quarantine. This term is misleading. I don't think what is happening is voluntary at all. If it were, wouldn't each business be able to make that determination to close or not for themselves? People are being herded to their homes by the government taking away all of your options and promoting fear.

I'm one of those sheep. Part of the better safe than sorry crowd. My wife and I started stocking up on food 3 weeks ago. Mainly because we thought if one of us or our kids tested positive, we would have to stay home. This spreads so easily it seems inevitable that one of us gets it but I never thought the country would shut down.

We'll have to see how this plays out but one thing is for sure. This is all happening with much less resistance than I think anyone could have imagined. Are we going to shut down each time a virus like this happens?

**UPDATE** I posted this yesterday. It was rightly taken down and had to be modified. Alot can happen in 24 hours...

From the Washington Post:
In Kentucky, 24 people who tested positive for the novel corona-virus have voluntarily cooperated with orders to self-quarantine to prevent the spread of the disease to others.

But one 53-year-old man in Nelson County refused to follow medical advice. He recently checked himself out of a University of Louisville hospital against his doctors’ advice and told the local health department he would not comply with an order to isolate himself from others.

On Saturday, the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office posted armed deputies outside the man’s house over the weekend to enforce the quarantine.
