We have to draw the line somewhere.

I'm here today to conduct a Public Service Announcement, warning my friendly neighbors to the south about a growing trend that some claim abuse the constitution, and deprives you and your family of opportunity and social resources.   The Chinese have taken over - in style.    Oh wait, scratch that... these people are American citizens, you need not worry.
Birth tourism is a growing trend, where Chinese mothers come to America to give birth to their children on American soil.  This ensures that their children, according to the 14th amendment, are American citizens. Chinese parents are so motivated to do this, that they are willing to spend $15,000 to $100,000 (US) to stay in "birthing hotels".   They do this for many reasons including;  improved health care, education, protection by the American embassies located in China, and to avoid laws that prohibit parents from having more than one child.
Some Americans are outraged by this.   Many claim that the Chinese are abusing the system, and depriving 'real' Americans of jobs, an education, and other social resources.   Even some immigrants, who have changed their residence status to American, are angry, claiming that there is a "right" and "wrong" way to become American.  Complaints include "I think it's happening in my town"  and "We're being taken advantage of" ... these people seem to be against immigration altogether, believing that America is their birthright, and not the right of anyone who resides anywhere else.  Another problem I see is when the birthing hotels, and the companies that are providing "care" at a premium, are not fulfilling their duties, and even conduct scams that often trick Chinese mothers into applying for governement aid, as American citizens, where any aid goes to the "hotels" and not the mother or child.  Because they do not speak english, they are not aware of what they are signing, and are lead to believe that these applications are requirements for services rendered at the hotel.
How bad is it?  I'm personally having a really hard time finding justified claims of negative impaction on America, due to the "Anchor Baby" practice.   The only unlawful part of this is that Women often lie about their reasons for coming to America, saying they are tourists, while hiding their true intentions of ensuring American status for their newborn children.  Lying to obtain a visa is a crime, however it was put into place to prevent other crimes related to immigration, such as drug trafficking, and terrorism.  Instead of creating laws to allow pregnant women into the country, people who oppose this practice are suggesting the American government changes the 14th Amendment in order to prohibit such activities.  I'd like to ask these people if changes to the 2nd Amendment, or the rights that benefit them, are on their to-do list as well?  I highly doubt it.
I also highly doubt that "true" Americans are aware of their own immigrant status, or their own negative impact on social programs.  How many Americans are abusing the welfare system right now?   I know it's more than the amount of babies being born to foreign mothers on American soil.  Often times these children are raised in China, where they do not benefit from American policy, until they move here, and pay tuition, gain employment, and pay taxes.  Hell, the birthing hotels alone are providing employment, and bringing in revenue to other industries.  Many of these "travel packages" include more than just a room to give birth in. They include many perks similar to normal and legitimate travel packages, like sight-seeing, dining, amusement park visits, etc.  Meanwhile the tax evasion cost in 2001 was to the tune of $345 billion dollars, owed by American citizens.  Nowhere does it say that this money is owed by immigrants - turn citizens, but instead by those who own small businesses, are of the highest tax bracket, and those with the most complicated claims.
Most importantly, the only thing making you an American right now, is the fact that you were born here, and not anywhere else.  You didn't have to take a citizen test.   Your parents didn't have to travel across the globe, or pay tens of thousands of dollars to put you here either.   Unless you are of pure aboriginal descent, someone in your family tree was an immigrant.   To be against immigration, is to be against your own belongingness.   If you believe that citizenship should not only be based on someone's birthplace, but the birthplace of their parents, and their parents before that, you should pack up your shit, and go back to Europe, or wherever your ancestors came from.  Fuck it... let's all move to Africa, where we're pretty sure all human beings originated (based on DNA).
An exclusive society is not a free society.  That is not the humanity we all enjoy as citizens of a free country.  Also, have a little empathy for fuck's sake.  What would you do in their same situation, with the same opportunities as they are presented with?  You would want what's best for your children.  You should be proud that you live and maintain a society that people so desperately want to be a part of.

I once saw a bird soaring over and across the Rainbow Bridge in Fort Erie, ON.   It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed.
