In February 2002, Vincent Liew received a new kidney. This would have been great news except that no one involved knew that the donor had cancer, but because the cancer was in her uterus the doctors thought there was very little chance that Vincent would be in danger. They thought wrong. Liew died later that year and upon examination it was discovered that his death was the result of uterine cancer, despite the fact that he didn’t have a uterus.

A man entered the emergency room with a stab wound, however when that was treated doctors noticed that the man was bleeding from behind. After looking closer they discovered that the attacker had also inserted a light bulb into the victims anus. The man underwent surgery to remove the object, but died later due to septic shock.

Getting drunk via your ass isn’t normally recommended, but that’s what led to the death of a particularly unfortunate man. People have died before while trying to give themselves alcohol via an enema, but this guy did it with style, meaning that he pierced his own colon while using an enema device.

Forrest Gump said “life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get”. If we now use that analogy and apply it to people with rare diseases, it’s like having an entire box of chocolates that are sh*t flavored. One man had a disease known as hemochromatosis, which is a rare disease causing the body to absorb too much iron from food. This iron overdose didn’t turn this guy into a superhero, it destroyed his liver and caused him to grow varicose veins on his esophagus. When the veins eventually ruptured, he slowly bled to death.

For most people, a trip to the toilet won’t mean anything but a bad smell and a mild sense of personal achievement, but for those with heart issues, every seated experience can be deadly. Pushing too hard while trying to expel human waste can cause heart failure and has done on more than a few occasions.

It’s not often that a human being can cause a mass illness by their very presence but that’s exactly what happened when Gloria Ramirez was admitted to hospital. While dying on the operating table, the medical team used a defibrillator to try and revive her which seemed to trigger a strange garlic odor and an oily substance across her body. Not long after this, the medical team fell ill and although it’s not clear what caused the sickness, the culprit may have been dimethyl sulfoxide, which is an industrial solvent also used as a home remedy. When mixed with oxgen it can become a powerful nerve gas.

Dogs are carnivores and humans are meat so it should come as no surprise that dogs and even cats will try and eat their owners after death. An elderly woman wasn’t even dead when her dog began having an all-you-can-eat-buffet. The woman had been incapacitated by a stroke when her pet started literally tearing strips off of her. By the time she was found, the dog had eaten all of her exposed skin.
