I have a few friends who work as set and prop designers in the entertainment industry and it's definitely a job that requires a lot of creative thinking and looking at things in different ways. Budgets for things like props and sets tend to be fairly limited compared to other parts of the production, so these folks know how to do more with less, and often turn everyday objects into something that looks significantly more fantastic with a little bit of paint and lighting.
