16 1970s American Band Pics Of Grand Funk Railroad

The band who did more in six years than most bands can do in a lifetime.

Flint, Michigan hasn’t been painted in the best light for the past few decades, but it does have one thing to boast about… The formation of Grand Funk Railroad back in 1969!

The original trio of Don Brewer, Mark Farner, and Mel Schacher found success almost instantly, tying the Beatles' Shea Stadium attendance record just over a year after their first show!

The ‘70s was a whirlwind of highs and lows for the band. They’d get worldwide recognition with 6 platinum and 7 gold records, but personal and professional issues would see them disband in 1976.

Luckily for fans everywhere, they’d get the band going again in the early ‘80s, but today, we’re here for the early years. The “American Band” years that we still know and love them for today.
