16 ‘Hotel California’ Pics Of The Eagles In The '70s

Quick trivia question… Which album sold more copies in the U.S.? Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” or The Eagles’ “Greatest Hits?” We’re talking about The Eagles today, so it’d be pretty weird if we teed up the article with a loss. It was just pretty shocking to hear that their “Greatest Hits” album sold 38 million copies in the U.S. and is actually the highest selling American album of all time.

What’s even more shocking is that this album doesn’t even include their biggest single, “Hotel California.” This might not come as a shock to any of you who happened to be there at the time. Their dominance of the 1970s would seem like commonplace, since they had hit after hit from 1971 until their breakup in 1980.

Since the bookends of their heyday line up with the bookends of the 1970s themselves, it made our job of finding great ‘70s moments from The Eagles pretty easy. Here are 16 pictures of The Eagles in their record-setting prime.
