Bradley Cooper. Cooper started off as your typical struggling actor, landing small parts here and there until his role on Alias. However, his part was gradually cut shorter. On top of this, he was battling depression and had to take a whole year off after tearing his calf muscle while playing basketball. It was a combination of these factors that made Cooper want to leave the industry for good.

Emma Watson. The young actress was only nine years old when she landed the part of Hermione in the Harry Potter series. She had a hard time dealing with all the attention and didn’t like the glitz and glam of Hollywood. Watson planned on leaving the industry as soon as the series ended, but realized she had a powerful platform to voice issues such as women’s empowerment.

Millie Bobby Brown. The British actress caught the showbiz bug at the age of 8. She never attended any acting classes but wanted to set out and make a career in Hollywood. She landed some small roles, including parts on Modern Family and Grey’s Anatomy but almost gave up because she wasn’t landing anything big. During her time filming Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, the 23-year-old actress didn’t like the elitist attitudes of producers and the issues that went on behind the scenes. She thought the industry wasn’t for her, but stuck with it and went on to land major parts in Star Trek and Avatar.
