We all die. Not everyone, however, gets to live to tell the tale. For a handful of very lucky Redditors, who managed to ever-so-narrowly escape the clutches of death, landing in the second half of this paradox has proven to be a defining experience, ones that were almost as terrifying as they were enlightening.

From one commenter who got the full Wizard of Oz tornado experience while on the road in Texas to a traveler who managed to survive a doomed airplane, here are 21 terrifying ways people told death "not today."
