Let’s be honest, not every famous stop on the map lives up to the brochure. Some landmarks are more hype than anything else, but people still go there for the photo, or the story.


It’s a curious mix of nostalgia, marketing magic and just plain old curiosity. It’s about those places that your third grade teacher promises you will love. This list takes a look at those ones that pull crowds despite not offering much.


It’s not about mocking them but about celebrating how easily we humans convince ourselves that any experience is a great experience, only to get there and be disappointed. But at least you leave with a photo and a magnet.
